What I was thinking :)

Well...do you want to know what I was thinking? I'm bettin' you do, so I'll tell you.

If you recall in my thinking post, I said that I had to decide if what I was thinking was a doable thing. I talked it over with Catman and after thinking about it, we've decided that it is something I can do. I will however have to wait until after Christmas to put my idea into any kind of action. Why the wait? well, I will need to sell my car and use some of the cash from that to put my plan into motion.

No, selling my car will not leave me house bound, we were going to sell it anyway that is something we've been thinking about doing for awhile it's just the sale date has been moved up because when my Grandmother passed away in September, she left her car to my Mom which gave my parents one too many cars for two people so they gave me their 2007 Santa Fe because they knew I wanted to get rid of my G6. By me taking the Santa Fe, that gave Catman & me way too many cars, we have the 2000 Tahoe which I love and it is not going anywhere anytime soon, the Santa Fe, Catman's company van and B's has her 1983 Blazer the rest of the money from the sale of the G6 will be put into the Blazer, it is sort of a semi-project vehicle. We just have to get the car away from B's to sell it, now that she has her license that is what she's been driving herself to school in because..."Eww...I don't want to be seen driving the Santa Fe, it's ugly." so I told her, "we need to sell the car to finish your truck." that may have changed her mind about driving the Santa Fe, we'll see.

Anyway, back to my original thought pattern, when my Grandma was still alive she told me that she wanted me to have her sewing machines (she used to be a seamstress) when she passed away. I have one of them, the other one is still at my parent's house. As most of you know, I was laid off from my job in July of 2010, I have been looking for work and have had some interviews, but am still without a job. The effects of one income for almost two years is finally starting to take it's toll so something needs to be done. When I was in school, all my electives were home ec. classes ie. cooking, sewing, quilting etc. I am a pack rat so I still have all of my project patterns, tools, pins, yes even the thread from those classes, it is all packed away in a closet. Can you kinda guess where I am going with this? I bet you can. :)

I have decided to get back into sewing, quilting and crafting and turning it into a home based business. I will be starting a store on Etsy and trying to sell my merchandise, but like I said it will be after the holidays.

My store will be geared primarily toward quilts, maybe quilted table runners and the like. I have been looking around and found some other things I can easily make too, such as collar bandanas, crate covers may possibly come in at some point in the future and I'm kicking around the idea of trying to make doggie bows. If this idea takes off and stuff sells, I'm thinking of setting up a table at our local Park Fete and Christmas on Main Street events. I may be getting ahead of myself with my thought process on that one. :)

I will still be looking for a job though because I know even if I am able to get my little business started it isn't going to pay the mortgage, hell...I'll be lucky if it pays the electric bill.

That is what I was thinking and now you know what I was thinking, so...what do you think?

You may not be good with a name, but you sure gave me some awesome ideas for the quilts when we talked on facebook. Catman agreed with your Southwestern themed ideas by the way.

That's all the ideas I could come up with....but like the name I came up with for our little endeavors here...Frippery Farm...make sure the name means something to you!

Thank you, Lamby. :)

I will post the etsy site for you when I get it set up. I was trying to think of names that mean something to me, I suck at naming things. You guys have given some good ones to think about though. :)

Hugs
